Weatherman joined the prepping arena in the 90s. The fact that he is such an avid outdoorsman has allowed him to master his craft where primitive and modern survival skills are concerned. He has a clear understanding of all the equipment you need to keep on hand to survive in hostile terrain.

He can also identify all the edible and medicinal plants in his environment and he knows how to use them to save lives. A husband and father to daughters, he spends quite a bit of time speaking at prepper events and expos. This requires a lot of traveling but Weatherman enjoys the experience because it allows him to meet new people that can expand his understanding of prepping.

As A. American, Weatherman is known primarily for his series of prepper-influenced novels which follow Morgan Carter, a man that finds himself stranded hundreds of miles from home after an EMP goes off. Morgan must undertake a journey across a less than friendly landscape to reach his family because the worst comes to pass.

A former electrician that spent more than two decades plying his trade, A. American’s foray into publishing was as unplanned as the decision to commit to his pen name. The author frequented a site that encouraged authors to share concepts and stories.

It was on this site that he first started using the ‘A. American’ pseudonym. Though, at that time, it was just a username. During his time on the website in question, Weatherman was astounded by the number of high-quality writers and stories he encountered.

One day, on a random night, he decided to add his own ideas to the pool. It took him just ten minutes to create the concept for the first survivalist novel. Before the night was done, Weatherman had written and published 5000 words of the story on the site.

Within a day, his piece was inundated by comments from people that couldn’t get enough of his story. This was all the drive Weatherman needed to keep writing. Eventually, he finished ‘Going Home’, the first novel in what eventually became a series. He saw no reason to change his pen name once the book was published.

Weatherman’s books are as educational as they are entertaining. This is deliberate. His stories are pure fiction. However, he also knows that plenty of people have survived difficult situations by recalling the advice they came across in fiction.

For this reason, Weatherman uses his books as a platform through which people can learn to survive in unexpected scenarios. He knows that his guidance could make a difference in someone’s life one day.

The author appreciates both self-publishing and traditional publishing. Indie publishing appeals to Weatherman because it gives him total control over his creations. He can also make money quickly. But he also understands that the arena expects the author to bear all the responsibility of publishing.

This is why he appreciates traditional publishers. They do a lot of the heavy lifting. That being said, he also knows that they take much longer to publish and pay.

Best A. American Books

The author’s books are so alluring that he has made two appearances on the USA Today bestsellers list, with some of the best titles in his bibliography including:

Going Home: Morgan Carter was 250 miles from home when his car died along with every other piece of electronic equipment in the vicinity. With no phone or means of modern transportation, he began his trek across Florida, doing what he could to find food and shelter whilst also steering clear of the many people whose desperation had driven them to madness.

A. American uses this book to ask his readers whether they could survive in Morgan’s shoes.

Surviving Home: Morgan did the impossible. After his car died 250 miles away from home, he made a perilous journey across Florida during the State’s most difficult period. But he did it. He made it home. Now he must face a bleak future. The danger is far from over.

Florida’s power grid has collapsed and Morgan knows that chaos is going to ensue. Fortunately, he has spent years preparing for a similar situation.
