And yet, Abby had no intention of pursuing publishing. She read romance voraciously, especially as a teen. English was her favorite subject and, unlike some of her classmates, she took great pleasure in writing essays.
But she never dreamed of becoming a writer, which is why she entered the field so late in her life. Abby thought she would become a nurse. But after a while, psychotherapy piqued her interest. It wasn’t long before she moved on to psychiatry. By the time the author went to University in Sussex, she had decided to pursue social anthropology.
Abby couldn’t quite settle on a career path which is why she eventually studied film. Life after college was nothing like she had anticipated. Her studies did not prepare her for the type of work she eventually encountered.
Despite all the thrills and excitement that came her way, Abby’s life in Film and TV wasn’t as satisfying as she initially expected. Part of her started yearning for the opportunity to tell the stories she loved as a teen.
She did not act on that yearning, not until she found herself waiting outside an actor’s trailer while the rain fell in sheets. It was an eye-opening moment, one that told her that she was meant for more than what she had achieved so far.
Her entry into publishing was organic. Abby had a friend that encouraged her to submit a manuscript to Mills and Boon. Her initial writing efforts were rejected. But Abby refused to surrender. She started honing her abilities, reworking her concept, refining her story, and making revisions. She finally wrote a manuscript that Mills and Boon accepted and her life changed.
Even though she had no prior writing experience, Abby Green became a published author because her passion for reading had taught her all she needed to know about storytelling. This is why she encourages aspiring authors to read.
She believes that the habit opens the imagination and produces inspiration. Her road to success wasn’t necessarily grueling. After making her first submission, it took the author roughly one year to become a published author.
But she had spent several years before that tinkering with her story. Additionally, her first rejection was quite devastating. Fortunately, it came with some encouragement. It gave her guidance that she could use to enhance the quality of her work. This told her that she still had hope.
She encourages aspiring authors to view their rejections through a similar lens. Some rejections are impersonal and direct. But others are quite detailed. The latter is a sign that the publisher wants a positive response on your part before presenting you with a publishing deal.
Abby still remembers the day she got the call. After all the waiting and hoping, she could barely believe it when her publishers reached out and told her that they wanted to buy her book. Though, she admits that subsequent books were a little more challenging because she had to find new ways of subverting the tropes of the genre. But this time she had a deadline.

Best Abby Green Books
Even though Abby loves her job, she still struggles with procrastination; though, that hasn’t kept her from writing riveting romance. Some of the best books in her bibliography include:
The Spaniard’s Marriage Bargain: Rowan and Isandro’s marriage was one of convenience. Rowan loved Isandro but she had long since accepted that the billionaire would never reciprocate her feelings. She did not expect her decision to prioritize her child to change their relationship. Isandro couldn’t keep Rowan away from their son, and neither could he control the passion brewing between them.
Ruthlessly Bedded, Forcibly Wedded: Cara thought Vincenzo was being sincere when the two of them met. She had willingly given him her virginity. It wasn’t until he discarded her that Cara realized that it had all been a ploy to take vengeance on her for the part she had played in the downfall of Vincenzo’s sister. But Cara was innocent. She was also pregnant.
