Born in 1981 in Norfolk, Tata attended the US Military Academy from where he acquired his Bachelor of Science. He also attended the Catholic University of America from where he acquired a Master of Arts in International Relations. A graduate of the School of Advanced Military Studies, Tata spent almost three decades in the military.

He served as Deputy Commanding General (10th Mountain Division, Afghanistan), Chief of Plans (82nd Airborne Division), and brigade commander (101st Airborne Division). He left the army in 2009 after earning medals and awards such as the bronze star, legion of merit, combat action badge, ranger tab, and the army achievement medal, to mention but a few.

It was after his retirement in 2009 that he entered public service, serving as the Wake County Public School System’s superintendent and the District of Columbia Public Schools Chief Operating Officer.

While his achievements in Wake Country earned Tata a lot of respect, especially the significant increase he oversaw in the number of schools above 70 percent academic proficiency, his conservative leadership style led to conflicts with the democratic majority in the Wake Country School board.

He left after two years when his contract was terminated. This paved the way for Governor Pat McCroy to offer the author a position as North Carolina’s Secretary of the Department of Transportation.

Anthony J. Tata is an outspoken supporter of Donald Trump and he has appeared on Fox News on numerous occasions to defend the President’s decisions. However, the author also spends a lot of time discussing military issues and tactics, using his experience to lend some weight to the conversations on Fox regarding foreign policy.

Tata, who has been married three times, writes fast-paced action thrillers. His heroes are larger-than-life characters that reflect his political opinions. Tata doesn’t shy away from the fact that he allows his political leanings to influence the kinds of stories he tells.

The author lives a busy life. His political efforts consume several hours of his week. His work drags him all over the country. However, he always finds time to write. Tata tries to produce at least 1000 words each night and during his off-hours. On the weekends, he pushes that figure to 5,000. If Tata maintains this pace, he can deliver a proper 100,000-word novel within three to four months.

Anthony J. Tata Awards

Tata has received a nomination for the Barry Award (Best Thriller).

Foreign and Domestic
Captain Jake Mahegan had a promising future ahead of him. His superiors had enough confidence in his abilities to send him into Afghanistan with a Delta Team to find the American traitor that had sided with the Taliban.

Things went wrong. Jake’s entire team was killed and, for his failure, he was dismissed by his superiors. The Army hoped that Jake would fade into obscurity. But the captain was not content with accepting his lot in life. Jake was determined to clear his name. Once the Taliban landed on domestic soil, he seized the opportunity to get some payback.

Three Minutes to Midnight: An army geologist is missing. He was kidnapped. Days later, two nuclear plants are attacked. This is just the beginning. A wave of terror is about to unfold unless Jake Mahegan can find the culprit. He cannot afford to fail. The future of the country is in his hands.

The second novel in the Jake Mahegan series pulls the Delta Force veteran into a new mission, one with massive stakes. At first, Jake is concerned with a personal errand. Somone raped and killed his mother when he was young.

Jake will stop at nothing to bring this target to justice. Fortunately, or unfortunately, his mission has overlapped with a terrorist threat. Jake must find a geologist who went missing after returning from a classified mission.
