Jennifer Weiner Books

Jennifer Weiner is the number 1 New York Times Best-selling Author of 14 books including her latest books: THE LITTLEST BIGFOOT and HUNGRY HEART. But here are 3 of her bestselling novels that became a major hit in the literary world:

Best Friends Forever: This is Jennifer Weiner’s sixth novel which was published in 2009 and became that year’s number 1 New York Times Bestseller. It also became the longest running bestsellers of the year in the Publisher’s Weekly list.

This is a witty fairytale for grown-ups about the dream of friendships lasting for a lifetime. Her main characters were Addie Downs and Valerie Adler. They both met when they were still eight years old where they promised to each other to become best friends forever. Addie has held on to this promise most especially when her best friend, Valerie, moves across the street a year after. But betrayal and tragedy crept in their friendship when they grew up to become teenagers. Valerie because famous while Addie became her scapegoat.

Years later, Valerie Adler went on to fame and fortune as she worked at their local TV station as a weathergirl. Addie, on the other hand was left to take care for her troubled brother as she lived alone in her parents’ house in their hometown in Illinois. Destiny made its way for them to meet again as her long-gone best friend, Val, showed up at Addie’s front door with a terrified look in her face and a stain of blood on the sleeve of her coat. They then find themselves caught up in a wild adventure who tried to find strength and support in each other that they could never achieve being alone.

All Fall Down: All Fall Down is an interesting story of a woman, Allison Weiss who slid into addiction and struggled to find her way out of it.

It starts with her trying to cope up with the hardships she went through in life-her husband becoming distant and cold, her 5-year old daughter’s tantrums, and her father’s worsening case of Alzheimer’s disease. One day, when she brought her daughter to a pediatrician, a magazine is flipped open to a quiz about addiction. She then started to wonder if her constant use of prescription pills to ease her worries can become a problem in the future. She wonders if her pills’ effect is just the same to that of drinking a glass of wine every day.

This is a woman’s tale of redemption and empowerment even made beautiful with a comedic touch and true-to-life realizations.

The Next Best Thing: This book centers on the story of a young woman who has tried to make her way to Hollywood.

Ruth Sunders, a car crash survivor at the age of three, grew up under the care of her loving grandmother. She then is nurtured through her years of surgeries with love, care and constant appreciation of her beauty, despite the fact that her scars will stay with her forever.

She started pursuing her dreams of making it in Hollywood after college, hoping to get her first debut in the world of TV. After years of failing to make it through, Ruth then gets her first call. But her thought of a happy start has shaken as she began to struggle with the terrors of the Hollywood industry.

The Next Big Thing is a warm story of a young woman in search of her happiness in the land where she thought her dreams would come true.

  1. I normally don’t go for books like these, but Weiner’s works are captivating for even someone like me. I remember seeing “In Her Shoes” in the movie theater and then reading the book shortly after. As with any movie adapted from a book, there are differences, but I found both to be entertaining and cute, but in a good way. I especially recommend the book and movie for any sisters out there.
