The people who followed his work at the time know that he wrote about entertainment and celebrities. His first novel was published in 2013, paving the way for him to become a full-time fiction author. John Marrs guessed fairly early on that his life would revolve around publishing.

The author was a decent student but he always performed poorly in his exams. Math, in particular, presented a challenge for Marrs; he failed the subject in O-Level and GCSE. On the other hand, his literature scores were encouraging.

He also appreciated the subject, not to mention English. So he eventually accepted that he was probably going to write for a living. Once he finished his A-levels, the author put his skills to good use by doing some work for a local paper.

He spent the next few years honing his abilities before finally joining the ‘News of the World’s Sunday Magazine’ in London. Marrs was hired to interview celebrities. The transition to fiction wasn’t particularly difficult. Or at the very least, he had an advantage over other aspiring authors.

As a reporter, it wasn’t enough for Marrs to simply report the words of the celebrities he interviewed. He was expected to predict the interests of his audience, to understand what they wanted out of an interview and to take that angle once he started probing his subjects.

Fiction writing, as far as Marrs is concerned, was no different. As an author, Marrs had to tell stories to which readers could relate. He needed to understand and then produce what people wanted to read. And that is what he did, becoming a renowned English author of thrillers in the process.

As far as his writing habits are concerned, John Marrs has no particular source of inspiration. He sees things in his daily life, whether it is a story in a newspaper or an encounter on an escalator, and they spark ideas. Whenever the novelist stumbles upon an idea, he always jots it down on his phone.

His novels start as basic concepts. He fleshes them out into fully-fledged ideas with actual characters and situations. Marrs doesn’t necessarily detail the events of his books from beginning to end. He prefers to let the stories lead the way, to take whatever direction they please.

However, he tries to outline the events of each chapter. This enables him to stay on course while he works. The author endeavors to write at least a thousand words a day. His objective is to finish the first draft and then worry about fine-tuning his story during the revision and editing stages.

Best John Marrs Books

Marrs writes a lot about identity; his characters are always struggling to find out who they are and who they wish to become, with some of the best titles in his bibliography including:

Wronged Sons: Catherine was happy. She was a housewife with a cozy home and three children she loved. Then Simon left. He disappeared quite suddenly but Catherine refused to believe that he had abandoned her voluntarily. As she spiraled into debt, Simon began his brand new adventure as a free man.

The One: ‘Match Your DNA’ changed the world. They discovered a gene that could be used to identify each individual’s soul mate, that person for which they were best suited. With a simple mouth swab, the company promised scientifically guaranteed happy endings.

But their discovery only brought misery. Millions of people jumped at the chance to find their perfect match. In the process, the traditional norms like courtship and romance died.

Now five people are about to meet their perfect match. They know that happy endings are not guaranteed. But they are not prepared for the lies and the secrets waiting to bubble to the surface.
