Pierce Brown adds to the list of the bestselling American science fiction writers. Born on 28th January 1988 in Denver, Colorado, Pierce Brown majors in screenwriting and novel write-ups. Brown’s early life was quite interesting. So to say, he grew up in seven different states in the US. This is partly due to his parents’ occupations and lines of work. His mother, Colleen Brown, was the president and the CEO of Fishers communication as well as the chairperson of American apparel’s board of directors while his father was a local banker. Brown graduated from the University of Pepperdine with a degree in political science and economics. Soon after graduating, Pierce Brown sought employment in political and tech related companies. He then landed at the NBC page program in Burbank, California before venturing into his writing career.

Pierce Brown’s writing career faced a stormy start. His initial writeups, six to be specific, faced up to 120 agent rejections. Without despair, he wrote the Red Rising which was the hallmark of his writing venture. Interestingly, he wrote this book within two months in his parent’s garage in Seattle, Washington. The Red Rising received majority positive reviews ending up among the top 20 on the New York Times Bestseller list. Currently, Pierce Brown lives in Los Angeles scribbling tales of spaceships, wizards, ghouls among other bizarre things.

Universal Pictures acquired the rights to feature film the novel Red Rising in February 2014. Whereas Pierce Brown wrote the screenplay, Marc Forster directed the film.

Red Rising: Pierce Brown’s Red Rising marked the hallmark of his writing career. Debuting in January 2014, this was the first installment of his trilogy, The Red Rising series. The first installment, the Red Rising, introduces you to Darrow, aged 16 years old, who is in deep mines of Mars, into the future. According to Darrow, humanity is distinctly spread and has been organized to a strict caste system of colors. The strata contain gold at the top and red below. According to him, he is red. However, Darrow strives hard in the mines to change the positions in his life, rising to the gold. Darrow has a young, loving wife who complements his hardworking efforts. The Reds are also proud of their social status being the bottom of the clan.

Besides this, the Reds hold on to the idea that they are sacrificing for humanity at large. They are also drawn to the narrative that by working hard in the mines extracting helium-3, they are helping their pioneers in making the planet Mars habitable. Hopefully, they long to join their pioneers in the habitable planet Mars. Darrow’s life starts getting on a rough path after the arrest of his wife. His wife was arrested having trespassed a restricted garden belonging to bronze administrators. He finds himself alienated, bereft and identified for execution. However, a resistance group referred to as Sons of Ares, pluck him from the jaws of execution. However, the group shatters his dreams of Mars by telling him that the planet Mars is already inhabited.

The Sons of Ares plan to use Darrow due to his critique, swift mindedness, dexterity, and constitution. Their plan is to manipulate Darrow into a gold status and use him to infiltrate into the top leaders training academy. He is tasked with rising as high as he can in the gold ranks and help the Sons of Ares in their revolution. However, the problem is that he has to adapt and survive undetectably within the Institute. Fast forward, Darrow goes against all the odds to achieve his long-targeted life mission. However, his escapade was not that simple. He had to take risks as well as depend on allies and enemies all along. This and much more makes the whole Red Rising story interesting. Certainly, this is a novel to keep you on toes from the first page to the last.

Having said this, other installments within the Red Rising series include the Golden Son and the Morning Star released 2014, 2015 and 2016 consecutively. Besides this, Pierce Brown announced the oncoming sequel trilogy, Iron Gold that is set to begin in August 2017 and published in 2018. Additionally, Sons of Ares is also set to make its debut in May 2017.

When Does The Next Pierce Brown book come out?

Pierce Brown doesn't seem to have an upcoming book. Their newest book is Morning Star and was released on February, 9th 2016. It is the newest book in the Red Rising Series.
