His parents abandoned Nigeria as the Biafran War came to an end. They moved to Britain, Hong Kong, California, the Bahamas, and finally, the UK, where the author got his degree and diploma (Creative Writing).

Eventually, destiny took him to East Norfolk Sixth Form College and City College Norwich, where he worked as a teacher. This was after working as a toilet cleaner, accountant, and programmer.

Scarrow started telling stories at a young age. He doesn’t remember the first story he ever penned. But he has spoken of the stories he would tell as an 8-year-old.

All the kids took turns telling stories. But they would always sit quietly when it was his turn. And when he couldn’t finish a story, the other kids would return the next night to find out what happened.

This told the author that he was a talented storyteller. Scarrow was not a consistent reader during that period. But he remembers the first book that hooked him.

Illness kept him home on one random day. After taking a two-year break from reading, the author found ‘The Wolfen’ by Whitley Strieber. His older brother had taken the novel from the library. Even though it scared the author, he finished it in one sitting.

In the years that followed, the author’s tastes transformed. He developed a fascination for the likes of Shakespeare and Philip K. Dick. Scarrow did not intend to become a highly successful author.

In fact, he never noticed that his renown was slowly growing until he attained success. When he looked back, the long gradual journey he had undertaken amazed him.

The author writes historical fiction because he loves history. He grew up reading Cornwell and Sutcliff. As a burgeoning author, he made the mistake of trying to write commercially.

Scarrow would visit bookshops to see what was popular. But his attempts to recreate those books ended in failure. Eventually, the author realized he was better off writing what he wanted to read.

This paved the way for the many books on ancient Rome the author has written. Scarrow is often surprised by the diversity he encounters among his readers.

He assumed that his books would only appeal to bored individuals with a passing interest in history. He was amazed to realize that male and female readers of all ages loved his work.

That being said, Scarrow doesn’t try to appeal to everyone. He endeavors to stay true to his vision.

Peanut butter sandwiches and scotch whiskey on the rocks occasionally accompany the author’s reading and writing sessions. Scarrow’s best books include:

Under The Eagle: 42 AD is not a good year for Cato. The Second Legion in Germany is the toughest the Roman army has to offer, and Cato is their newest member. Already, people don’t like him. Although, this time around, his bookish ways are not the problem.

Because of his imperial connections, Cato is now second-in-command to Macro. Macro is a difficult man to please. No other soldier is more courageous or battle-scarred than the centurion.

Cato must go above and beyond to prove himself. The road ahead won’t be easy. The Legion has been tasked with journeying into Britain, a land of wanton barbarity.

Soon enough, it will fall on Cato and Macro’s shoulders to upend a conspiracy against their emperor.

The Eagle’s Conquest: Macro expected challenges when he ventured onto British soil. But nothing prepared his men for the opposition they would face. The skirmishes were bloody and the enemy unyielding.

Despite their superior tactics, the Roman Army did not have the numbers to overwhelm their foe. But the emperor had no patience for excuses. Macro’s objective was clear. He had to crush the Britons before they grew too strong.

If that wasn’t problematic enough, someone was plotting against the emperor. Plans had been made to assassinate him the moment he arrived in Britain.
