Order of Susan Stoker Standalone Novels
Stoker is proud of the fact that she is a self-published author. The field allows her to retain control over the price and quality of her work. And yet, the fact that she is indie published hasn’t stopped her from becoming a New York Times Bestselling author.
Most of her books are sold through Amazon. She has a website through which she keeps her readers apprised of her past, present, and future projects. She also publishes a newsletter that provides excerpts of her new books. Even though the author has decent sales figures, she is always encouraging her readers to review her work.
As an indie-published author, Stoker depends on the marketing that Amazon does for her books to reach new audiences. And Amazon only pushes novels with significant amounts of reviews. Though, the fact that only 1 percent of her readers provide reviews for her books isn’t necessarily a source of distress for the author.
Stoker likes what she does. She writes romance because she enjoys reading stories were men and women end up together despite seemingly immovable obstacles. Some of the spicy stories she writes are somewhat incongruous with the writer’s personality.
Susan Stoker is a self-described nerd who spends her days inside her home. The notion of a wild night out on the town doesn’t appeal to her. Her reading habits were nurtured at a young age. In kindergarten, while the other children slept, Stoker’s teacher taught her how to read a book called ‘Summer’.
This is the first book she remembers reading. Years later, she discovered and fell in love with ‘Watership Down’. It had a strong influence on young Stoker’s life along with books like ‘Uncle Tom’s Cabin’. Stoker knew that she had a knack for reading because she kept stumbling upon and becoming engrossed with books that her teachers said were too hard for her at that age.
Her foray into the publishing field was gradual. At first, the author would imagine fun scenes in her mind. She would go so far as to put them down on paper. But that was mostly out of boredom. One random day, it occurred to Stoker that, rather than writing various random scenes, she could put all her ideas together to make a single book.
Stoker indulged the scenes in her head because they entertained her. And she concluded that, if these scenes could provide her with so much joy, surely others would find them just as entertaining. Her first book, ‘Outback Hearts’, was inspired by reality television shows of which the author is an avid fan.
The reality shows Stoker watched were typically populated by attractive celebrities and actors. So it occurred to the author that readers would get a kick out of a reality show that followed normal people. This formed the basis for ‘Outback Hearts’.
The author writes in the third person. She enjoys jumping back and forth between the perspectives of the heroes and heroines. She gets many of her characters’ names from her friends and family members.
Best Susan Stoker Books
Stoker writes romance because she truly believes in happy endings; some of the best titles in her bibliography include:
Claiming Grace: Everyone thought Grace and Logan would end up together. They were best friends in high school and Grace only had eyes for Logan. But then he escaped their small town, went into the army and everything changed. Logan wrote to Grace but she never responded to any of his letters. All these years later, Logan is finally back home.
He hopes to start a security business with his siblings but Grace is proving to be quite the distraction. For Logan and Grace to secure their happy ending, they must escape the hold Grace’s family has on her.
Protecting Caroline: Matthew and Caroline’s encounter was unplanned. Matthew, a Navy Seal, hated flying commercial. So he wasn’t pleased to find himself crammed in the dreaded middle seat. Fortunately, the woman next to him was more than happy to switch seats.
Matthew had never met any woman that was as easy to talk to as Caroline. But what should have been the start of a fascinating relationship took an interesting turn when terrorists decided to hijack their plane.
