She is one type of woman who helps those who are in despair to disappear, and thanks to Wolf Clan (Seneca tribe) membership. In other words, she can cover any trail, fool any pursuer, and provide all her clients with entirely new identities with authentic paperwork. She understands all the tricks, both modern and ancient and she has invented some of these tricks by herself. Due to all these factors, she is not surprised when she gets an intruder to her home one day. The intruder happens to be John Felker, a retired cop who wants Jane to make him disappear as she did to his friend Harry Kemple. However, as Jane tries to open a new world for the ex-cop, she walks into a trap that will take all are cunning and heritage skills if she needs to get out of this trap alive.
Vanishing Act plot is fantastic; there are several foreshadowing of several twists that makes this novel interesting.
Shadow Woman: Jane Whitefield is one young woman who name is whispered like a prayer. She is a shadow who lady who helps the helpless and aids the hunted when they have no choice but to hide when sought by their enemies. Now with her roots deeply rooted in Native American, she arranges the disappearance of Pete Hatcher, a gambling executive based in Las Vegas. This should be a perfect and easy job for her given her experiences in this field. However, she does not know of the existence of Earl and Linda- professional killers who will cash in slowly if Hatcher dies. From the Las Vegas to New York then to the Rockies, the race between the prey and the predator narrows down till they share an intimacy that which can only be broken down by death.
Dance for the Dead: This is the 2nd book in Jane Whitefield series by Thomas Perry. When Timothy Decker parents are brutally killed, it is evidently clear that they were not the intended parents. Timothy Decker own room was ransacked, and every single trace of his existence scrapped. On the other hand, Mona, Timothy’s nanny is confident about one thing; Timothy needs to disappear, now and not later.
Jane Whitefield, the Native American is the perfect person for making people disappear, and lead them to safety. However, in this case, Mary Perkins is the only hindrance to Jane’s performance- she is a desperate woman with a history of fraud, and due to this factor, there is a ruthless predator that wants her dead as well as her fortune. Jane quickly creates a new life for Mary and shifts back to Timothy’s case, unfortunately, what Jane doesn’t know is that Timothy and Mary are fatefully connected to one cunning serial killer.
