Willow Rose is a Danish novelist that writes mystery, urban fantasy, and paranormal romance. Born in 1976 in Copenhagen, Demark, Willow has written dozens of novels over the years.

Five of those books are in Danish. She published them using the ‘Therese Philipsen’ name. Many of her stories are either set in Denmark or Florida. After spending most of her life in Denmark, the author left the country for Florida, a state where every day is a beach day.

Willow is one of those authors that cannot remember a time when she did not want to write. Even as a child, her stories were so engaging that Willow’s classmates would stay inside to listen to her instead of going out to play during recess.

Her teacher was just as captivated by the girl’s storytelling, and he encouraged her to put her stories on paper. No one was surprised when she decided to pursue journalism. Her friends and family knew she would target a field that allowed her to write.

Although, none of them expected her to attain so much success when she wrote her first novel in her late 20s. Willow gets ideas for stories from the people she meets, articles she reads, and movies she watches.

She doesn’t have to struggle to create the characters. They are almost fully formed when they appear in her head. At the very least, she always knows their histories and the obstacles they have to overcome.

These characters will interact with other people in Willow’s imagination. Before long, a proper story will take shape. It can take months for the author to develop an idea to a point where she can write it.

Some ideas for books will come to Willow while she’s writing other novels. But once she has a clear grasp of the concept, she will produce the first draft within weeks. And then, the revision phase will begin.

The author will read the manuscript over and over again, making corrections until she’s satisfied with her work. Once she submits the book to her editor, she has to wait for the feedback before making additional edits.

Most people associate Willow with paranormal romance. Surprisingly, the first novels she wrote in Danish were mysteries. And even when she switched to the English language, the author continued to dabble in mysteries.

But the paranormal genre was her one true passion. She was drawn to the field because it had no limits. The genre encouraged her to unleash her imagination. Willow tried writing fantasy, but it couldn’t scratch her itch.

The genre did not permit her to dip her toes into romance to the extent she wanted. Eventually, she drifted into paranormal romance and never looked back.
