He became a tutor in the faculty for several years. He was later on recruited. However, after Finder discovered that a career in the CIA was less exciting, he decided to leave the job and become a writer. Finder’s first book was published when he was 24 years, in the year 1983. It was a nonfiction expose, which resulted in several threats in libel suits. The Red Carpet was the first book to reveal Dr. Armand Hammer, the controversial multi-millionaire and the Chief Executive Officer of Occidental Petroleum who had worked for the Soviet Intelligence during the 1920’s. Hammer’s attorney had threated Finder with several lawsuits. However, it was proved that all the books were assertions. Nonetheless, the Red Carpet was not the only story that Finder wanted to tell. Thus, he went ahead to pen down his very first story, the only mode in which he could legally narrate the entire Armand saga. The Moscow Club was published in the year 1991, and it described numerous factual events, which would be revealed several years later.
Ironically, Joseph Finder found numerous confidential sources, which were more than willing to reveal confidential information to him since he was a novelist instead of revealing the same information to an academic or a journalist. The Publishers Weekly named the Moscow Club as one of the top 10 thrillers all-time thrillers. After the Moscow Club, the author then went ahead to pen down three critically acclaimed thrillers, The Zero Hour, the Extraordinary Powers, and the High Crimes. Joe was later on invited to the movie set for High Crimes and even cast for the role of a JAG Prosecutor. Paranoia was published in the year 2004, and it represented a major turning point in the author’s career since it landed in the Wall Street Journal, Publisher’s Weekly and the New-York Times bestseller’s list. It was the very first book by the author to use the corruption, conspiracy and the ruthless drive of the corporate world as the riveting plotline.
