Ellery Adams (also known as J.B. Stanley) came from Long Island Sound and had lived on a beach. A significant part of her adult life is well-spent in landlocked towns which are primarily her source of crystal clear memories of violent storms, open water, and the sea smell. Perhaps, this is her inspiration while writing her books for the “Books by the Bay Mysteries.”

Before becoming a full-time writer, she had tried different jobs such as caterer, car salesperson, clerk, tutor, teacher and technical writer. She’s interested in a relationship with one of her co-workers and insecure about her weight, but she is a strong heroine who gets things done when needed. The world of pottery is what really draws you in though – so if you like pottery or want to like pottery, this is the book for you.
