Best Colin Cotterill Books
All of the books written by Colin Cotterill are really great but some best books written by the author include:
The Coroner’s Lunch: The story of the book is set in Laos describing the situation of the country in 1976. The main character of the book or series is Dr Siri Paiboun who is a Paris-trained doctor. The 72 year old doctor has been appointed as a state coroner even though he had no experience, training or equipment to fit that job. However, all things are going well until the death of a famous party leader’s wife. According to the husband she died because of food poisoning but Siri has suspected that it is not simply an accident rather she was murdered and then he got engaged to find the real cause of this death.
Anarchy and Old Dogs: It is another famous book written by Colin Cotterill. Here, the doctor faces a new case where a blind, retired dentist gets killed by a logging truck while crossing the road to post a letter. It seems a very simple accidental death but the letter on his hand turns this case into a very complicated and challenging case for Dr. Siri Paiboun. Then what? You can read the book to know the full story.
Thirty Three Teeth: This is the second book in the Dr. Siri Paibaoun Mystery series. As one of the last doctors left in Loas after the Communist takeover, Dr. Paibaoun is assigned to the city coroner. He is quite unqualified for the job as it was not his specialty whatsoever, but he does have one thing that makes him good at his job: curiosity. He doesn’t mind incurring the wrath of the ruling Communist party in his search to solve the murders either. When there is a series of what looks to be bear bites killing the bodies coming across his desk, he looks to investigate. There’s also the case of the governement official who ran full speed through a 70-story window and the charred remains from a helicopter crash at the temple at Luang Prabang. The more cases he comes across, the more Dr. Paibaoun realizes that not all is fine and well in the city of Laos.
Another series by Cotterill is the Jim Jurree Case Files and the first book in the series is called The Funeral Photographer. Jimm Jurree is a female detective and news reporter. She doesn’t report the news as much as she is the news, when she solves the cases with the help of her strange family. This one sees Jimm exiled from the north of Thailand and sent to the south where she finds some more trouble. This is a short and part of a series of short novellas by Cotterill following the Jim Jurree character. They all have his trademark puzzles, humor, and love for human life.
