Marie Force is an American author who is best known for her works in romantic fiction, and is perhaps best known for her Fatal series of books, as well as her Gansett Island series of books.

The author Marie Force was born Marie Jean Sutherland in Newport, Rhode Island. Marie Force grew up in the neighbouring town of Middleton, where she went to the local high school in 1984. After graduation, Force studied at the University of Rhode Island, where majored in journalism and social science. After graduating in 1988, Force put her journalism qualification to good use and went to work for a local newspaper. She describes the experience like ‘boot camp’ for writing, working hard for little pay, but learning all she could about the discipline.

At the age of 26, after marrying, Force ended up moving around, ending up in Spain in the early ’90s, then to Maryland, Jacksonville, and then back to Rhode Island at the turn of the millennium. It was around this time that Marie Force had the beginnings of her writing career, creating the framework for the character Jack Harrington. Jack Harrington would become the protagonist in the first book in the Treading Water series, titled Treading Water. The series continued with Marking Time, Starting Over and Coming Home. The first book in the series was released in 2005, and they revolved around romance and families, and have a strong fanbase.

After creating the Treading Water series, Force went on to create the Gansett Island series, which tells the stories of the inhabitants and their home of Gansett Island. It tells stories of romance and family, but with a large cast of different characters.

As well as the Gansett Island Series, Force has written several standalone books, as well as another series, the Green Mountain series of books, set in Vermont and featuring the Abbott family. The first book of the Green Mountain series, All You Need Is Love was released in 2014, and although each can be read as standalone books, they’re best enjoyed if read in order of release.

Author Marie Force was born in Newport, Rhode Island and grew up in the town next to it (Middletown) with parents who loved the water. Her father owned an aviation repair business that her mother was the bookkeeper for him. She graduated from Middletown High School in the year 1984 and would graduate from college (University of Rhode Island) in 1988 as a double major in political science and journalism. She would work for a small community newspaper, to her it was like a boot camp (writing wise). There was little money and worked hard, but had so much fun; they learned a lot about writing and editing, not to mention life. Her writing started up after she talked with her dad and he asked her about writing and told her she could write for three hours, early in the morning. She worked on notes, which she thought were bad, but would return to them, every now and then. When her mother was diagnosed with cancer, the book proved to be an escape. It was something that she worked on more and more. She had some work on the book done, and her mother was the first to read the first four chapters. Her mother dying on August 31, 2004 awakened something in Marie and it led to her writing quite a few novels.

Force writes contemporary romance novels, and has written the “Treading Water”, series, the “Green Mountain” series, the ‘Fatal” series, and “The McCarthy’s of Gansett Island” series.

This woman (Janey McCarthy) has been either engaged or dating David Lawrence (a doctor in training). Things go wrong between the couple and she calls Joe (whom she thinks of as her fifth brother) and one of the people that is in her inner circle on the mainland.

She thinks that some time with him will help her before she has to face her parents and friends. It is torture having her in his house, because before he could just love her from afar (even though that was bad too). Is he going to take the opportunity to show her what they could have with each other? What is Mac going to say about it? He is Janey’s protective and older brother, and Joe’s best friend, after all.

Ready for Love: This is the third novel in the “The McCarthy’s of Gansett Island” series and was released in the year 2011. This novel stars Luke Harris and Sydney Donovan. Luke Harris was in love with wealthy seasonal visitor Sydney Donovan. She never returned after going off to college. She married another man and had two children with him. But Luke stayed on the island and worked at McCarthy’s Gansett Marina and tried to figure out what went wrong.

A little over a year after she loses her husband and children, she comes back to the island. She wants to figure out what is next for her. It might just be a new affair with the guy that she never forgot. Is she ready for this second chance?
