Terry Brooks is American author who writes fantasy fiction novels. More than 20 of his books have been featured in New York Times bestsellers and over twenty-one million copies of his novels in print. He is one of the best-selling living fantasy writers. He was born in Sterling, Illinois and spent most of his life there. He went to Hamilton College where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature in 1966. He later joined Washington and Lee University where he obtained a law degree. Before becoming a full-time writer, Brooks served as an attorney.

The author had been a writer since he was in high school mainly writing, fiction, western, and science fiction and nonfiction genres. During his college life, he was given a book copy of The Lord of the Rings which inspired Brooks to write in one genre. Immediately after finishing the two sequels to The Sword of Shannara, the author started writing a new series which would later be known as Landover novels. He then wrote four book series titled The Heritage of Shannara. For the next one decade and four years, the author wrote more Landover books and then went ahead to write The Word and Void trilogy. Brooks lives in northwest Oregon with his loving wife, Judine.

They are strong, brave and real at the same time. They had fears, doubts and yet pushed through to try and do whatever needed to be done.
Running with the Demon: One of the hottest days of July, two men arrive in Hopewell, Illinois, the site of a lengthy and bitter steel strike. One of the men is a demon, a servant of the Void, who is determined to use the frustration and the anger of the society to achieve some secret mission.
The other man is John Ross, a warrior of the Word, a man whom if he fails in his mission life on earth would become a living hell. He possesses the ability to see the future, but does he have the power to change the future that he can predict?
Now hanging in the balance is the life of a 14-year-old girl who is mysteriously linked to both men, and the lives of the residents of Hopewell, the future of the country. Moreover, the fourth of the hot month of July, while families and friends picnic in Sinnissippi Park while fireworks explode in the jubilation of freedom and independence, the fate of the human will indeed be decided.

Terry Brooks doesn't seem to have an upcoming book. Their newest book is Sister of Starlit Seas and was released on November, 14th 2023. It is the newest book in the Viridian Deep Series.
