Julius Kane and his wife Ruby have Egyptian Pharaohs for ancestors. And because they were born into a powerful lineage, the pair grew up to become powerful magicians.
When certain changes rock the magical community and the evil god Apopjhis threatens to escape confinement, Julius and Ruby begin working behind the scenes to acquire divine help.
The pair’s decision to start their mission off by recruiting Bast ends in disaster when Apophis uses the opportunity to try and flee, and Ruby sacrifices her life to stop him.
Julius is distraught and makes it his mission to not only protect their children – Carter and Sadie – but to also reunite with his wife. Circumstances conspire to separate Carter from Sadie after that. She is sent to live with her maternal grandparents while Carter is allowed by the courts to stay with his brilliant Egyptologist of a father.
By the events of the first book in the series, the siblings do not really know each other, having steered clear of one another’s lives for several years. When Julius Kane accidentally wakes the evil god Set and loses his life as a result, Carter and Sadie are forced to grow up fast.
They learn about their true heritage. They also realize that they have become the hosts of two very powerful gods from the mythical history of Egypt. Imbued with incredible power, the siblings begin the journey of a lifetime that sees them facing off against a collection of Egyptian Magicians that govern matters pertaining to their pantheon, and the evil god Apophis.
Rick Riordan, the author of the Kane Chronicles, is also responsible for writing the Percy Jackson series, a collection of novels telling stories that center on Greek mythology. After observing the surprising success of the Percy Jackson novels, Rick realized that the only topic of ancient history more popular than Greek Mythology was Egyptian Mythology.
And if he had achieved so much success writing about Greek mythology, Rick figured that the thirst for fiction centered on Egyptian Mythology would be even greater. The Kane Chronicles take place in the same world as the Percy Jackson series, and characters from both series have met in short side stories.

Best Kane Chronicles Books
Rick Riordan has mastered the art of distilling ancient mythological history into fictional stories about young boys and girls using their extraordinary powers to save the world, with the best books in his Kane Chronicles Series including:
Red Pyramid: The Kane family was shattered when Ruby Kane died. In the years since they were separated, siblings Carter and Sadie have become strangers. Sadie has spent many years with her grandparents in London while Carter has been traveling the world with his secretive father.
Things change when Julius Kane gathers his children at the British Museum for an experiment. Julius wanted to make things right. He ended up releasing a god that took his life and sent his children on the run.
But Carter and Sadie are not helpless. As the hosts of two gods, Carter and Sadie have great power waiting to bloom. Pretty soon, they are embroiled in a battle to keep Apophis the god of Chaos contained.
Throne and Fire: The gods of Ancient Egypt have been unleashed upon the modern world. And the most dangerous of them all, Apophis, is rising. Carter and Sadie, descendants of Egyptian Pharaohs and hosts to gods stand in his way.
Carter and Said might be the most powerful magicians to be born in centuries but they cannot win the fight against Apophis on their own. So they make a plan to find and revive the most powerful of the Egyptian gods, a seemingly impossible feat.
