All the books in the series follow a specific formula. They start with a hapless protagonist that becomes a paranormal creature. They spend the rest of the novel coming to terms with their transformation.

However, despite the chaos, they always find love. The series has several recurring characters. While the individual books follow a similar blueprint, the journeys the characters undertake are different.
